2022 is a great year for manga fans who have been waiting for their favorite shows. One Piece Film: Red is set to release in US theaters this fall 2022 after its Japan release on August 6, 2022. The movie will be available exclusively in Japanese with English subtitles. This marks the return of One Piece to the big screen in 2019.
The last time audiences saw the Straw Hat crew was in One Piece: Stampede. The film made $50.91 million on opening weekend in Japan and eventually went on to gross over $93 million worldwide. Shanks, the mysterious commander of the Red Hair Pirates and one of the Four Emperors of the Sea, and his estranged daughter Uta will be the focus of this exciting film. Both subtitled and dubbed versions of these global theatrical releases have been announced.
The President and CEO of Toei Animation Inc., Masayuki Endo, expressed his gratitude to the fans who have been waiting for this news. He said they are very excited to release One Piece Film: Red to theaters worldwide this fall 2022 as it coincides with One Piece’s 23rd franchise anniversary.
On the other hand, the Senior Vice President of Global Commerce of Crunchyroll, Mitchel Berger, also delivered a statement saying One Piece has always been a cornerstone on Crunchyroll around the world, and they cannot wait to delight One Piece fans around the world.
Toei Animation Inc. also said that One Piece Film Red would be included in numerous special events at Anime Expo 2022, which took place last July 1-4 in Los Angeles, California. “One Piece Film Red presents Steve Aoki Live” and “Toei Animation presents One Piece Film Red Panel” are two of the events that took place at the convention, which featured One Piece Producer Shinji Shimizu, actors Brandon Potter who voices Shanks, and Ian Sinclair, the voice of Brook, and ADR Director Anthony Bowling, among others.
So, aside from having an exciting streaming TV experience this coming fall, fans were able to enjoy the said events while waiting for the release of One Piece Film: Red.
