Is Mission: Yozakura Family anime surprise announcement coming in Aniplex Online Fest?

Will the pouplat rom-com Mission: Yozakura Family get an anime adaption? This has been talk of the town for sometime now. Let’s find out the chances!

Back in early 2018, fans had started asking similar question for Kimetsu no Yaiba being Shonen Jump’s longest running series. Now Yozakura has become the longer running WSJ manga at this point. For some time, Yozakura anime has been on the cards and some studios have extended offers. But they have been possibly turned down by Gondaira, maybe looking for a studio that can do justice to his works. So we may get a very late anime announcement but with a fantastic studio. That’s what everyone is hoping and speculating.

Written and illustrated by Hitsuji Gondaira, Mission: Yozakura Family is a popular Japanese manga series. Since August 2019, it got serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, with 160 chapters collected in 14 tankonbon volumes as of September 2022. Must be thinking that this is sufficient material to be adapted spread over seasons.

As of now there is no Mission: Yozakura Family manga English version in print but Viz Media has plans to publish it close to the end of 2022. However, one can read the first six volumes online. The simulpub version of Mission: Yozakura Family manga has been serialized digitally on Shueisha’s Manga Plus service

In the absence of official confirmation, let’s find out what Mission: Yozakura Family anime leaks and rumours are doing rounds.

Will Mission: Yozakura Family get an anime announcement soon?

Popular anime leakster, Shonenleaks, shared a tweet on new Anime adaptations to be announced during Aniplex Online Fest 2022 to be held on 24th September. He hinted at the possibility of Mission: Yozakura Family’s anime announcement.

If things go well, the anime adaptation could be on the cards by early 2023 or late 2022. And since then, weebs like us have been going crazy over the news – although there is no official confirmation from the productions yet.

Mission: Yozakura Family has all the elements of a good shonen manga: interesting characters, a novel power system, and a fair amount of humour. Its major characters, as well as its villains and ever-expanding supporting cast, are diverse and engaging. The series’ take on spies and the surrounding lore is also fascinating, as are the various non-affiliated spies introduced over the course of the series.

Additionally, Gondaira’s art style practically begs to be displayed in motion and full colour, especially in the battles, which are incredibly detailed and filled with life. At times the non-battle sequences can feel a little stiff and cartoony, but the characters’ enormous personalities and distinctive features serve to overcome that.

Because Shonen Jump manga rarely transcends 100 chapters without getting an anime adaptation of some type, Mission: Yozakura Family sticks out in its neglect.

Mission: Yozakura Family Plot

What severe measures will Taiyo have to take in order to save Mutsumi?! The mission begins in this spy family comedy!
