Third-year high school student Jiro Yakuin found himself in quite the predicament when the school announced a ‘Couple Course’. Students are put in pairs to train them to live with a partner as if they were married and they are graded on how well they perform together. Jiro’s childhood crush is Shiori Sakurazaka who gets paired with Minami Tenjin.
Jiro gets paired with Akari Watanabe, who seems to resent him initially and actually has a crush on Minami. Jiro and Shiori like each other, and Akari likes Tenjin. This mixed match-up breeds hilarity and both couples realize they will get a chance to switch partners if they reach the Top 10.

More Than a Married Couple, But Not Lovers is set in a high school where students are forced to live as a pseudo couple as a part of a curriculum. Jiro Yakuin is paired with Akari Watanabe, who is the complete opposite of him, in the traditional “marital training” class. At the suggestion of Akari, they start living as a pseudo couple in order to get the right to exchange pairs, which is given to the top performers. They practice various activities such as the first kiss in order to earn points, but as they come to understand each other’s personalities and thoughts, they unintentionally become closer and come to like each other.
