Black Clover: The Movie Plot and Trailer – Official Announcements are in!

The end of the Black Clover anime series left fans disappointed. But the franchise made up with the announcement of Black Clover: The Movie slated for a launch window in 2023. Black Clover: The Movie has dropped more information for its upcoming release and we’re here for it. The first teaser trailer has been shared during the seventh anniversary of the series.

The speculations for this release had been bubbling over for a long time even after the end of the anime series earlier this year. With the official announcement trailer out in April 2021, the best bet for Black Clover: The Movie is a 2023 release. The fans of the series have been anticipating another story to look forward to.

The manga series for Black Clover is written by Yuki Tabata and began serialization in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump in 2015. While the anime adaptation of the series has wrapped up, the manga is still ongoing with a present total of 30 volumes! The anime adaptation by Pierrot ended in March 2021. The anime series is rated 8.1/10 on My Anime List. Black Clover: The Movie has already been added to their library!

If the opening day of Jump Festa 2022 was dominated by Dragon Ball Super and Bleach, day number two was marked by the news of Black Clover. One of the highlights was the works of Yuki Tabata. Another was the unveiling of a second key visual of the movie.

The protagonist of the new Black Clover promo KV is Yuno who can be seen with clenched fists across his chest to honor the order of the Magic Knights of Clover. While officially it is not confirmed but the movie’s plot is likely to be set after episode 170 as Yuno appears to have already been appointed Deputy Commander of the Golden Dawn. To mark the occasion cover of Volume 31 of the manga was also released. There were a few unpublished illustrations by Yuki Tabata, accompanied by a message from the author.

Finally, a mobile video game was also announced, shown through an epic trailer. Here is the English trailer for the “Black Clover Mobile (tentative)” that will be delivered in 2022. It is developed by an affiliate of Pearl Abyss known for “Black Desert”. You can check the 3D action-like game screen and magic activation scene in the video of about 4 minutes.

Black Clover: The Movie – Asta and Yuno’s Journey

Black Clover is set in a world where magic is at the forefront of everything. In this fantastical world, Asta and Yuno are two orphans who find each other. While Yuno is a prodigy with the use of magic, Asta turns out to be someone who cannot wield magic at all. This comes as an uncanny thing in a world where everyone seems to be born with the ability to use Mana to manipulate magic. That doesn’t stop Asta from aiming for the position of the Wizard King.

He focuses on his physical strength instead and forms a friendly rivalry as they join the ranks of the Kingdom of Clover’s forces to embark on adventures and quests to protect the land as well achieve their own dreams.

Black Clover: The Movie has not revealed anything about the storyline itself which leaves it open to a lot of speculations. The first possibility is that of an original story that does not look at the manga arcs. the second possibility is that of a continuation after the end of the anime adaptation of the series. The anime continued for three seasons with over 50 episodes each and ended with Episode 170.

The Key visuals for the movie have only revealed Asta and Yuno so far, implying that this is a continuation of their journey which increases the chances of it being placed after the events of the anime.

Black Clover: The Movie Release Date and Platforms

Black Clover: The Movie has announced the film’s production status but has not yet confirmed when the movie will actually release. During the franchise’s seventh anniversary celebration, a teaser trailer was revealed to the fans. Black Clover: The Movie, the first animated trailer announced that the movie is coming in 2023.

The movie is in production if rumors and leaks are to be believed

There were speculations that suggested the first half of 2023 may finally see the movie coming to the theatres. With the end of the anime in March 2021, it is likely that the movie may decide on a Spring 2023 release.

The first release for the movie will be a theatrical release in Japan followed by an international release. The anime adaptation of the manga debuted in Japan in October 2017. The first season was designed for 51 episodes, but such was its popularity that it was renewed for another season with episode 52 in October 2018. This started a chain reaction with another season landing in October 2019. The Black Clover anime aired its final episode on March 30, 2021, with 170 episodes.

All the seasons can be streamed on Crunchyroll in Japanese with English subtitles while Funimation has the English dub in its catalog. While platform releases will be considered later, it is likely that the movie release will also be added to Funimation.
