What is The Quintessential Quintuplets About?
The Quintessential Quintuplets plays on an interesting yet known romantic comedy anime trope of identical siblings and love stories. The story opens with the rather tragic Futaro Uesugi, a brilliant academic and gifted student who is left with no family after the passing of his mother. He has no friends and also has the burden of his father’s debt.
When the Nakano family’s children transfer to his school, Futaro finds himself in amazing luck as he is hired as a tutor for them while being paid ridiculously well. Unfortunately for him, he realizes he has stumbled upon quintuplets, five identical siblings with differing personalities. The Nakano sisters are named Ichika, Nino, Miku, Yotsuba and Itsuki. Some like him while some don’t and the commotion that ensues lands him on a turbulent journey. He eventually forms a good relationship with all of them.
The first season of The Quintessential Quintuplets aired in January 2019 and spanned 12 episodes while the second season aired in January 2021 after being delayed from Fall 2020 due to COVID-19. Crunchyroll streamed the anime while Funimation streamed The Quintessential Quintuplets English Dub!
