This anime release of Fall 2021 goes by many names – Tsuki to Laika to Nosferatu, ‘Irina: The Vampire Cosmonaut’ and ‘The Moon, Laika and the Bloodsucking Princess’. Summer 2021 brought The Case Study of Vanitas with a rather intriguing vampire story but stuck to the historic feel of it.
Tsuki to Laika to Nosferatu, a drama fantasy, is based on the light novel series by Keisuke Makino that begin publication in 2016 and is currently ongoing. There are 6 tankonbon volumes of the title published by Gagaga Bunko. The series also has a manga adaptation that began in 2018.
The current anime adaptation of the science fantasy title began airing on October 4th and currently has one episode out. With only one episode out, the anime has a rating of 7.28/10 on My Anime List! Here’s all you need to know about Tsuki from Laika to Nosferatu!

What is Tsuki to Laika to Nosferatu About?
The story takes place post the end of World War II and shows the beginning of humanity’s endeavours into space, except the first cosmonaut is a vampire girl. The world is divided into two superpowers: The Federal Republic of Zirnitra in the east and the United Kingdom of Arnack in the west. Both the powers begin contesting for a race to space and expanding their knowledge.
The Republic announces a space mission in 1960 titled Project Mechtat, but also launches a secret project titled the Nosferatu Project that uses vampires to test the manned space mission. Lev Lops, an astronaut candidate is given the task to prepare and train Irina Luminesk, a vampire. Both of them dedicate themselves to the mission and share their enthusiasm for exploring space.
The anime adaptation was confirmed in March 2021 and is produced by Arvo Animation. The Opening theme titled ‘Hi no Tsuki’ (Scarlet Moon) for Tsuki to Laika to Nosferatu will be performed by the rock band Ali Project and the ending theme titled ‘Afureta Itsuka’ (Everyday Someday) will be performed by singer-songwriter Chima. The key visual for the anime has also been revealed!

Tsuki to Laika to Nosferatu is scheduled for a 12-episode run dropping every Monday of the week. The English Sub release for the anime is expected to follow the given schedule:

It should be noted that the release schedule for the anime is subject to change and delays in release. Tsuki to Laika to Nosferatu airs on Tokyo MX, BS NTV, Sun TV and KBS Kyoto at 11:30 PM.
Tsuki to Laika to Nosferatu English Dub
Funimation has licensed Tsuki to Laika to Nosferatu for distribution outside Asia. Medialink has licensed the series for South and Southeast Asia and also streams it on the AniOne Youtube channel with an ultra membership. The anime will also be available on iQIYI and Billibill.
Since Funimation has taken the license for the anime, it is highly likely that an English Dub for Tsuki to Laika to Nosferatu will be released by Funimation, Usually, the Dub release begins after the end of the English Sub version. Announcements are likely to be made in the coming months.

Akitoshi Yokoyama is directing the anime. Keisuke Makino, the creator of the original light novels, is supervising the scripts. Hiromi Kato is in charge of character design and Yuji Kaneko is the art director for the show. We don’t know yet if the anime will receive another season or an additional cour for its release.
