Cowboy Bebop Anime Gets Netflix Release on October 21st ahead of Live-Action Series!

In some spectacular news for anime fans, Netflix has announced that the original Cowboy Bebop anime will be added to Netflix worldwide on October 21st 2021! The release in all the regions also boosts the potential viewership of the Netflix production as the announcement comes close to the release of the Cowboy Bebop live action that is scheduled for release in November 2021. With the addition of title Netflix has become a one-stop-shop for all things “Cowboy Bebop”.

Netflix Geeked dropped the announcement in a video via a tweet on October 13th and we cannot wait. One can rewind oneself to the original anime adaptation streaming on Netflix from October 21. All the 26 episodes will be made available on Netflix.

The original anime series is available on Hulu but Netflix has acquired the streaming rights now. It is still not sure whether it will stop streaming on Hulu from now onwards.

What is Cowboy Bebop about?

Cowboy Bebop is a legend. It pioneered the anime industry of the 1990s that successfully established a stronghold in the world of entertainment. The 1998 anime is created by Sunrise animation and directed by Shinichiro Watanabe who is also known for Samurai Champloo and Space Dandy. Cowboy Bebop is a space western neo-noir with science fiction elements that went ahead to be yet another watershed moment in anime history.

The action-adventure space anime series is 26 episodes long. The plot for the anime revolves around a bounty hunter crew that traverses space in search of one job after the other. Spike, Jet, Faye, Edward and Ein form the main crew on board the spaceship named Bebop and explore the galaxy while Spike also negotiates his nemesis, Vicious.

The anime is known for its themes of existentialism, capitalism, loneliness and is a landmark in noir fiction in media. In a moment of genre reinvention, Cowboy Bebop also defines the extents of noir, comedy, sci-fi and westerns. The anime is considered the best of all times and is rated 8.77/10 on My Anime List. Among the other feats of the anime, it is also considered to have one of the best English Dubs ever!

The Original Cowboy Bebop Anime Cast

The popular Cowboy Bebop anime series released in 1998 was directed by Shinichirō Watanabe and written by Keiko Nobumoto. Toshihiro Kawamoto was pulled in for character designer, Kimitoshi Yamane as a mechanical designer, and Yoko Kanno as a composer.

Interestingly enough, the Cowboy Bebop live action for Netflix will retain the cast members from the original anime release for the Japanese Dub! That means not only do we get the amazing music score of Yoko Kanno again, we also get to hear the voices from the original anime release!
