Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba has a rating of 8.4/10 on IMDb and 8.6/10 on My Anime List! Demon Slayer Movie: Mugen Train has an IMDb rating of 8.4/10 and 8.7/10 on My Anime List.

What is Demon Slayer about?

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba follows the journey of Tanjiro Kamado set in the Taisho era of Japan. In the world of Demon Slayer, a war has broken out between humans and demons. On a bloodied battlefield and with no home to return to, Tanjiro sets out on a mission to avenge his sister, Nezuko, who has been turned into a demon. Tanjiro and Nezuko’s parents are slaughtered mercilessly by demons in their home.

The siblings begin a quest to lift Nezuko’s curse and stumble upon the Demon Slayer Corps. This organization is dedicated to fighting and killing demons and freeing society from their terror. Nezuko, though a demon, retains her capacity for emotion and kindness and is very protective of her brother and companions. Tanjiro promises to avenge his family and help his sister to become human again.

Demon Slayer Season 2 Entertainment District Arc began on December 5 with a weekly release on Netflix. The Mugen Train Arc is already being hosted on Netflix and spans over 7 episodes. It has been officially announced by Fuji TV that Demon Slayer 2 will be spread across 2 cours and Season 2 of the anime will end in March 2022.

Demon Slayer Season 3: Is this the Last Season?

Demon Slayer Season 2 is currently adapting the Entertainment District Arc of the manga. For those unfamiliar with the manga, the anime adaptation of Demon Slayer has already reached the second half of the story. It is the 8th major arc in the series and will adapt the manga up to approximately Chapter 97.

The manga still has 3 major arcs to cover before wrapping up Kimetsu no Yaiba. Demon Slayer Season 3 is likely, to begin with, the Swordsmith Village Arc which comes into the picture months after the battle of the Yoshiwara district. The Butterfly mansion hosts the recovering Demon Slayers as a new destination for their journey opens up and leads them to the Swordsmith Village where the Love Hashira awaits them.

Demon Slayer Season 1 spanned 26 episodes and adapted a little over the first 50 chapters of the manga. Season 2 will also roughly end with Chapters 97-98. At the end of Season 2, the anime will have 44 episodes. The next two arcs of the manga cover roughly 40-50 chapters and would be a perfect length to adapt, leaving the Final Battle Arc for another Season. That essentially means Demon Slayer Season 3 will not be the end. Fans can expect one more season before the story comes to an end.

When can Demon Slayer Season 3 Release?

Demon Slayer Season 2 was released after a gap of two years. With the season ongoing, the speculations for Demon Slayer Season 3 are in full swing. With no announcements for another season on sight at the moment, the only option is to take an educated guess. An announcement about the renewal of the next season of Demon Salyer poured in immediately after the current 2×18 episode of Demon Slayer 2 ended.

Season 2 ended at the narrative arc of the Red Light District and teh next Season sequel has been announced to cover the Swordsmith Village Arc. The announcement came with a short teaser trailer for the new season that had two new protagonists of the series namely Muichiro Tokito and Mitsuri Kanroji, Pillar of the Fog and Pillar of Love respectively. These are the two Pillars that will accompany Tanjiro and his friends in the new narrative arc.

Demon Slayer 3 is therefore finally a reality. The new story arc “The Village of Swordsmen” will adapt the events of the manga by Koyoharu Gotouge starting from the 12th volume. The teaser has not revealed any information about the release date.

Ufotable studio has been retained for Season 3 and fans can be rest assured that they will see spectacular animations, to say the least. In addition to the teaser, 2 key visuals of the new Pillars were also released.

With production time and the schedule of Ufotable in mind, it would be difficult to have a Demon Slayer Season 3 before 2023. This does not mean the OVAs or other media releases will pause. Releases with an original story are common for anime releases. The same could follow for Demon Slayer as well.

However, if we glance at the production cycle at Ufotable Studios then the Demon Slayer season 3 release should happen during the Spring anime season with April 2023 being the most likely.

The series that started in 2019 will continue in 2023 as well. But we know that the wait for a quality product like Demon Slayer season 3 will be amply rewarded.
