The first season of the anime has a rating of 7.7/10 on My Anime List while Season 2 is rated 7.75/10! From all of what’s going on with the manga and expected anime, here’s a rundown of the series and a quick catch-up with some spoilers!

Fire Force Manga Ending in February 2022

The 11th issue of Kodansha ‘s Japanese Weekly Shōnen Magazine released an important announcement about Atsushi Ohkubo’s Fire Force. Okubo is known for his works – Soul Eater and the most recent Fire Force.

Atsushi Ohkubo’s Fire Force manga is nearing its end with the final chapter appearing in the Weekly Shonen Magazine’s 13th issue, available on February 23.

A few months ago the author had confessed that the manga was entering the final arc. He also confirmed on December 31 that he was left with a few chapters and the manga would end at about two volumes with a total of 34 volumes to his credit since 2015.

The serialization in Kodansha ‘s Japanese Weekly Shōnen Magazine got completed and the final 34th tankonbon volume was released on 17th May

However, in the past few hours, thanks to the first spoilers of the magazine, the news has emerged that Kodansha has a big announcement in store for Fire Force in the pipeline. The community, of course, hopes for an announcement of Season 3 of the anime.

On 22nd February 2022, the Fire Force manga series reached its end officially with the release of chapter 304 in Japan. 32 volumes of the manga series have been published so far in Japan. The final tankonbon volume 33 covering chapters 287 – 304 will come out on 17th March 2022.

Fire Force Season 2 Official Trailer

Fire Force Plot and Official Synopsis

Kodansha Comics holds the license for the comics and also publishes the English version for the manga in North America. The Synopsis provided by Kodansha is right here:

Terror has paralyzed the clockwork metropolis of Tokyo! Possessed by demons, people have begun to burst into flame, leading to the establishment of a special firefighting team: the Fire Force, ready to roll on a moment’s notice to fight spontaneous combustion anywhere it might break out. The team is about to get a very unique addition: Shinra, a boy who possesses the unique power to run at the speed of a rocket, leaving behind the famous “devil’s footprints” (and destroying his shoes in the process). Can the Fire Force discover the source of this strange phenomenon and put a stop to it? Or will the city burn to ashes first?

Fire Force Season 3 Release

Fire Force Season 2 was a Summer 2020 release. The season had 24 episodes which continued from July to December 2020. The anime adaptation for the series is under David Production, also known for creating the anime for Jojo’s Bizarre Adventures. As Jojo fans know, Jojo’s Bizarre Adventures Part 6: Stone Ocean recently announced its release date around December 2021.

Even if we assume that the production of fire Force has begun, Jojo’s Bizarre Adventures was also under production during the same time. It is unlikely that Fire Force will return in 2021. The manga is currently expected to release chapter 279 which is a part of the Great Cataclysm Arc.

“Fire Force Sannosho” has been announced to be in production. Fire Force 3 aka “Fire Force Sannosho” will be a sequel to 2019’s “Fire Force Ichinosho” and 2020’s “Fire Force 2nd Chapter”. The rumors of Fire Force 3 to the delight of fans have come true. The news about the Fire Force Season 3 debut has been revealed on the official website. A key visual was also shared.

How many episodes will Fire Force Season 3 have?

The anime currently has 48 episodes, with each season having 24 episodes. Season 2 ended with the Stigma Arc of the manga which corresponded to Chapter 174. This means the next season will begin with chapter 175 of the manga. The new season will begin with Obi’s Rescue Arc.

If Fire Force Season 3 has followed the same pattern as its predecessors, it is likely that there will be 24 episodes for the season as and when it releases. The manga being in its last arc also means that Season 3 of the anime has a chance of being the last season for the show but adapting over 100 chapters in a single season may not be possible.

It is speculated that in the best case scenario Season 3 might premiere in the Fall 2021 calendar. Or there might be an official announcement for a release happening sometime in 2022.

So while anime watchers have more coming their way, the story is coming to an end for the manga followers.

Where can I watch Fire Force English Dub?

Fire Force is a Funimation Creation and had English Dubs for its previous seasons. The Adult Swim version of the English Dub is also there for Toonami. English Dubs for anime are usually released after the original series begins. Funimation is likely to release an English Dub for Fire Force once Season 3 releases.
