Goblin Slayer Season 2 has been making the rounds in 2021. With the season on the way, the anime adapted from the light novels series created by Kumo Kagyu is back in the buzz. A manga series was also adapted from the original publication and is serialized in the Monthly Big Gangan magazine.

Goblin Slayer Season 1 gained popularity with its dark fantasy setting, adventure-based plot, and an array of mystical characters. Since the series has been renewed for season 2, catch up with all that you need to know about the upcoming season of Goblin Slayer.

Goblin Slayer Season 2 Official Teaser – Sequel confirmed at GA FES 2021

Season 1 ended with a cryptic message “Goblin Slayer would return“. It was left to the assumption that the reference was for the Goblin Slayer movie. But the fans were treated with an official announcement for Season 2 during the “GA Fes 2021” live stream event. GA Bunko 15th anniversary celebrations on Jan 31 also released a Goblin Slayer Season 2 trailer teaser and a poster.

Goblin Slayer Season 2 Plot

Season 1 of the anime series contained a lot of blood, gore, and violence. Safe to assume, Goblin Slayer Season 2 will be following the same route. Season 1 consisted of 12 episodes and covered the light novel series from Volume 1 to Volume 4. The 2020 release Gobline Slayer film titled Goblin Slayer: Goblin’s Crown covered Volume 5 of the light novels.

The teaser with the announcement of Goblin Slayer Season 2 only gave us a glimpse of the characters that will be recurring in the coming season without telling us anything about the plot. Based on the creation of season 1, Goblin Slayer Season 2 is expected to cover the light novels beginning from Goblin Slayer Volume 6. The light novels are still under publication, therefore a potential Season 3 of the anime cannot be dismissed.

The upcoming Season of Goblin Slayer is expected to have 13 episodes. The series contains a lot of gore as well as instances of sexual violence. For viewers planning to start the series, discretion is advised.

When will Goblin Slayer Season 2 be released?

The 12-episode release for Goblin Slayer Season 1 aired from Fall 2018 to Winter 2019. On the basis of pointers, past production releases of White Fox, the estimated window of release was earlier set to Fall 2021. The announcement in early 2021 only revealed that Season 2 is under production along with a teaser visual.

The Bloody Adventures of the Goblin Hunter are about to return, the second season of the Goblin Slayer animated series has been officially announced on Twitter by Japanese label GA Bunko. Furthermore, the announcement was accompanied by a splendid key visual that you can admire at the bottom of the article.

However, with the passage of time, it appears the creators have forgotten about Goblin Slayer Season 2 which was announced in Jan 2021 with one key visual released since then. There has been no mention of the release date and what is taking so long. It is troublesome to see most of the anime that was announced around that time has already aired, and even a few shows that were announced after that have finished.

As of 01/05, there is some concrete development on Goblin Slayer Season 2 release date. Check out the tweet below with the launch of a new teaser, staff, and Studios.

The news in the new year is very convincing that now it will take a few months to have more information about Goblin Slayer’s return. The tweet is a confirmation that Goblin Slayer Season 2 will premiere sometime in 2023. However, it will not be before Summer 2023, essentially because LIDENFILMS studios are super busy in the first half of the year.

In 2023, in January/February LIDENFILMS is working on Tokyo Revengers Season 2 followed by Insomniacs After School anime in Summer Anime 2023. In addition, they also premiere the new Kenshin anime, so as you can see it won’t be until Fall 2023 that the return of the anime is likely to happen.

Goblin Slayer Season 2 Dub

Goblin Slayer Season 1 English dub was produced and streamed on Funimation. All 13 episodes were later simulcast on Crunchyroll. It is expected Goblin Slayer Season 2 simulcast and English Dub streaming rights will be acquired by Crunchyroll this time too.

We have got still a few months before we can watch Goblin Slayer Season 2 Episode 1. In the meantime, however, Season 1 is still streaming on Crunchyroll. A spin-off movie that adapted the fifth novel, “Goblin Slayer: Goblin’s Crown” released in Japanese theaters in 2019 is also on Crunchyroll.

However, before watching the Goblin Slayer Season 2, add the Goblin’s Crown movie on to your must-watch list. This is because it advances the story with respect to Goblin Slayer Season 1.

What is Goblin Slayer about?

The dark fantasy light novel series and anime adaptation is set in a world of conflict. The series uses the most common elements of the fantasy genre in crafting a world torn by violence and battle. There are races that include humans, dwarves, elves, and a hoard of monster races, the most prominent and important to the series being the goblins.

The world is centered around an organization called the Guild and the people who travel great distances to join it. The narrative uses the concept of a party consisting of members who plan to fight and exterminate goblins.

The central characters are surprisingly nameless till now. The main party of goblin exterminators consists of the infamous Goblin Slayer, an armor-clad warrior given the title of a specialist by the Guild who wishes only to indiscriminately obliterate all goblins.

Other members of the party include a priestess, and a young healer capable of using magic. She is also a protagonist in the series. Others include Cow Girl, Guild Girl, High-Elf Archer, Dwarf Shaman, Lizard Priest, Witch, Spearman, Sword Maiden, and Noble Fencer.

All the characters in Goblin Slayer are assigned a race and class and a set of abilities. The series borrows from classic epic fantasy series and seems to follow conventions of popular fantasy role-playing games like Dungeons and Dragons.

Goblin Slayer anime has entered into a controversy sparked by a US politician. Matt Shaheen, a member of the Texas House of Representatives since 2015, described the work as ” obscene ” and should be banned from schools.

The politician described Goblin Slayer as ” drawings of women raped by demons “, only to claim that ” anyone who believes this is acceptable is mentally ill. We will hunt down the vendors who have sold this junk to Texas children .”

Shaheen has also explained that the series, which is unclear whether it refers to the manga or the original novel, represents all those characteristics that the Texas Penal Code condemns: ” Obviously offensive representations or descriptions of sexual acts, normal or perverse, actual or simulated, including sexual intercourse, sodomy and sexual bestiality “.

While we wait for updates, Fall 2021 to Winter 2022 is certainly turning out to be a packed series of returns from popular anime series. Kaguya-Sama Love is War Season 2, Demon Slayer Season 2, and the Final Season of Attack on Titan are all set to make a comeback. Don’t forget to check them out and do let us all about the anime you are excited about!
