Jujutsu Kaisen Movie 0 (aka JJK0) has been confirmed for release in 2021. With information slowly pouring in, excitement for the film’s release is definitely on the rise. Jujutsu Kaisen has become one of MAPPA’s most successful releases along with names like Attack on Titan. With speculations of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 also in the picture, the release of Jujutsu Kaisen prequel “Volume 0” only makes things better.
Fans are being showered with content from the series created by Gege Akutami, which is a currently ongoing Manga series serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump. Needless to say, the popularity of the series has skyrocketed after its release in 2020 with the anime adaptation by MAPPA

What is Jujutsu Kaisen About?
The plot for Jujutsu Kaisen revolves around Jujutsu Sorcerers in a world where Cursed energy emanates from every living being, rising from negative emotions. Yuki Itadori joins the Occult Research Club of his school. The Occult Club members discover a Special Grade Cursed Relic and in their curiosity, end up breaking the seal. Yuji is confronted but Jujutsu Sorcerer Megumi Fushiguro and in what turns out to be a disaster after unsealing a cursed talisman, Yuji swallows the finger of Ryomen Sukuna, The King of Curses and one of the most terrifying antagonists in the show.
Satoru Gojo, a Jujutsu Sorcerer and also Megumi’s teacher, sets out to help finally bring an end to the terror of Sukuna and keep Yuji alive till Sukuna is killed. The season ended with a “To Be Continued”, breaking in speculations about the release and production of Season 2.
Season 1 of the anime adaptation began its run in October 2020 and closed with a total of 24 episodes. In Japan, it premiered on MBS and TBS at midnight and later on streamed on Crunchyroll for global fans. The series has also been picked up for streaming on Netflix which is great news for the fans!
Jujutsu Kaisen 0 Trailer
Shueisha’s Jump Festa 2022 has brought forward the Christmas celebrations for anime fans. This time it is the new promotional video for the feature film produced by MAPPA studios, “Jujutsu Kaisen 0” that is waiting for its debut on 24th December.
The final teaser trailer before the theatrical premiere of the movie in Japan is of 2:30 minutes duration. It explores the relationship between the unreleased protagonist Yuta Okkotsu and his childhood friend Rika. Their budding romance, however, turns into a nightmare when the latter dies an unnatural death and gets transformed into a curse ready to kill anyone nearby. One can also see Yuta’s first encounter with Satoru Gojo, the strongest wizard who leads him to Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical School.
Toho Animation has once again not disappointed its fans. The incredible choreography previewed in the fight between the protagonist and Suguru Geto prepares Jujutsu’s fans for another treat.

What does Jujutsu Kaisen Prequel “Volume 0” have in store?
The Official site for Jujutsu Kaisen Movie 0 was launched shortly after the final episode of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 1 aired on March 24, 2021. The Special Event for Jujutsu Kaisen held on March 28 2021 announced the release of Movie 0. The most curious factor of this film will be the appearance of Yuta Okkotsu, The third-year student at Jujutsu High we all have been hearing about and have only seen snippets of in the main series.
Jujutsu Kaisen Movie 0 will be narrating the story of Yuta Okkotsu and his childhood friend Rika who is afflicted by a curse. Satoru Gojou makes an important appearance in this story too as he tries to help the two kids by having Yuta enrol in Jujutsu High.
Jujutsu Kaisen manga Volume 0 will serve as the source material for Jujutsu Kaisen Movie 0. The Volume consists of only 4 chapters but the length of the volume suggests that the film will be longer than an average ONA episode. The arc covered in the volume, also called the Cursed Child arc, will have Yuta as the main protagonist. The events of the movie take place before the events of the first season of the anime. We will be seeing the return of Yuta Okkotsu in the Shibuya Incident Arc which is expected to be adapted in Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2.
The trailer for the movie shows a voice saying that The Night Parade of 100 Demons will be released and a new era will begin. For those unfamiliar, the Night Parade of a 100 Demons is a part of Japanese Folklore.

When is Jujutsu Kaisen Movie 0 Release Date?
The Jujutsu Kaisen Movie 0 release date is set for December 24 2021 as announced at the Jujutsu Kaisen Event. In other words, it is Christmas eve. The upcoming MAPPA 2021 stage event may disclose more information for the upcoming film. There are also high expectations for announcements regarding Season 2 of the anime.
Jujutsu Kaisen Movie 0 premiere in December 2021 is only for Japanese theatres. As far as the international premiere is concerned, it is likely that MAPPA will announce a Spring 2022 release for Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2.
It is following a similar pattern as the super hit Demon Slayer: Mugen Train movie that was released in theatres outside Japan a few months after its national debut.
Where Can You Watch Jujutsu Kaisen 0?
Jujutsu Kaisen 0 Anime movie has announced its release to 418 theatres and adding IMAX screenings as well in Japan.
The news of screening theatres was revealed on the official website of the Gekijō-ban Jujutsu Kaisen 0 based on Gégé Akutami‘s Jujutsu Kaisen manga on Thursday. In addition to screening on IMAX in Japan, the movie will get a massive opening in 418 theatres. This includes the regular theatres as well as IMAX screenings in Japan. The site unveiled a PV for IMAX screenings.
PV tagline reads: "Discover the origin of Jujutsu Kaisen in IMAX ...!" The film will be released on December 24.
The release date for Japan has been fixed for 24th December 2021. It was earlier assumed that the US release date was leaning towards sometime in early Summer 2022. However, a recent announcement has taken everyone by surprise. It is more of an early Spring release. The dates are here. Check them out.
Crunchyroll has announced the dates for the theatrical release of blockbuster chartbuster in the United States and Canada. Jujutsu Kaisen 0 tickets will go up for sale from 25th February with the theatrical premiere scheduled in more than 1500 theatres on Friday, March 18. The film will be screened in English dub and subs as well. No ratings have been given to Jujutsu Kaisen 0 but the movie’s runtime is of 105 minutes only.
The official announcement reads: “The dark fantasy film from TOHO Animation will be available in both English dub and subtitled,will arrive in more than 1500 theaters nationwide.”
UK and other Western countries theatrical premiere of Jujutsu Kaisen 0 has not been confirmed yet but it is likely to happen later than 18th March.

It is also likely that platforms like Crunchyroll will be adding the movie to their catalogue sometime next year. The official announcements by MAPPA will shed more light on this.
As of now, it is safe to assume that it will follow the same route as Demon Slayer The Movie: Mugen Train that is set to release on various platforms, including Apple TV, Microsoft Store, Vudu, Google Play, PlayStation Store and Amazon.

The cast for Jujutsu Kaisen Movie 0 has not been announced yet. The only one we can be sure of at this point is the presence of Satoru Gojou who voiced Yuichi Nakamura. Other returning names that can be positively presumed are Takahiro Sakurai as Suguru Geto, Mikako Komatsu as Maki Zenin, Koki Uchiyama as Toge Inumaki, and Tomokazu Seki as Panda. Confirmed voice artists include

The makers have also teased out the original track video for “Ichizu” by King Gnu. It will be the theme of the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 movie.
After the release of the movie on Christmas eve, the director Sunghoo Park released a new illustration giving some solace to the fans worldwide. One can see the main characters – Yuuji Itadori, Megumi Fushiguro, and Nobara Kugisaki sitting on a couch, watching the movie on the television.
