What’s more important right now than digging everything about the release of Konosuba Season 3? Nothing, right? As loyal fans of this masterpiece, we have already waited for over two years since we last had the movie-Konosuba: Legend of Crimson. So, is that it? Or is there more coming? To know more, keep reading!
When we talk about the Isekai genre, three animes instantly pop up in our mind-Sword Art Online, The Rising of the Shield Hero, and of course, Konosuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World. What makes Konosuba different from the other anime of this genre is its integration of humor and satire that changes the otherwise serious mood of the genre.
Based on the 17-volumed light novel series by Natsume Akatsuki and Kurone Mishima, the novel concluded with the release of the last final volume in May 2020. The series premiered its first season consisting of ten episodes in 2016. Following that, the second season of Konosuba aired in 2017. While the first season covered the first two volumes of the original novel, the second season adapted the third and the fourth volume.
Apart from the regular seasons, there are two OVAs and also one movie that covers the chapters of volume 5 of the novel.
About “KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World!”
Konosuba is centered around the adventure of Kazuma Sato, who, after his comical and untimely demise, encounters the Goddess Aqua, who reincarnates him in a fantasy world. He soon finds himself distressed as he is given the task of defeating the demon king who has terrorized the neighbouring villages. The job seems almost impossible to accomplish as he is teamed with the most dysfunctional group ever. What happens afterwards is a mixture of comedy and adventure.
Is Konosuba Season 3 Canceled?
Well, we hope, no. According to the statements released by the business producer of Konosuba, they will renew the show for a third season only if the movie does well. From what we gathered around the movie’s performance, we can safely assume that the makers might not cancel the beloved anime.
After a gap of 6 years, the makers have decided to make a comeback. So say the leaks and rumors. Konosuba season 3 is likely to be announced. It took the creators six whole years to get to the decision, but it has been confirmed if we believe the rumors.
The only thing that we know for sure is that there will be another master adaption of the subsequent volumes of the novel. However, we don’t know if it is going to be a full new season or a movie adaptation. Whatever it might be, it won’t air this year.
Konosuba Season 3 Release Date
Konosuba Season 3 has a very high chance of releasing at the beginning of 2023, in the Winter Anime lineup.
The other two seasons of Konosuba also aired in January, so the third season would probably follow the same pattern.
Usually, it takes at least a year and a half to work on a new season. But since Takaomi Kanasaki, the director of the anime, is busy working on another project(Princess Connect! Re: Dive Season 2), the upcoming installment of Kanasuba has been delayed.
What will be Konosuba Season 3 Plot?
We can expect Konosuba Season 3 to start from where it ended last in the movie. Since the movie covered the 5th volume, Season 3 of Konosuba will most likely be based on the 6th volume and after. If you want to know the plot beforehand, you can always finish up the previously aired seasons and the movie and start reading the novel from volume 6 onwards.

Where can I watch Konsuba in the US?
Konosuba Season 1 and Konosuba Season 1 are currently streaming on Crunchyroll for US fans. It is likely that Konosuba 3 will find its way to Crunchyroll on release.
In the meantime, a controversy had come up in May 2021 around KonoSuba. It was rumored that the anime along with four more Isekai-oriented anime titles (along with Zombie Land Saga, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, Princess Lover!, and Nekopara) had received a limited ban by the Russian government. The reason was their portrayal of reincarnation.
So that’s all information we have for now. We will update our piece as soon as the makers announce more details. Till then, keep following us.
