With the reboot of the classic anime wrapping up, Shaman King Flowers: The Sequel is on the way!. The new Shaman King anime was a reboot of the original series from the early 2000s. Shaman King is a Japanese manga series created by Hiroyuki Takei. Shaman King was serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump Magazine in 1998. After its sudden ending in 2004, the true ending of the manga was revealed by Hiroyuki Takei in 2009.

The original anime adaptation of the series began in 2001 and lasted for about 64 episodes. In 2021, the anime got a reboot and began in April 2021 and is ongoing on Bilibili. Netflix streamed the New Shaman King series on their platform with the entirety of 52 episodes.

The reboot ended its run in April 2022 and the end of the series has announced a green signal for the sequel of the anime! The official title of the series has been confirmed as “Shaman King Flowers: The Sequel” will now move away from the main characters who have been the centre of Shaman King.

What Is Shaman King About?

Shaman King revolves around Yoh Asakura, a shaman who exists at the bridge between the living and the dead. Yoh wants to become the Shaman King and attain the ability to communicate with the Great spirit and take it upon himself to reshape the world using the wish of the Great Spirit. But to do so, Yoh must participate in the Shaman fight and compete with other Shamans for the title of the king of them all, the one who will emerge victoriously and be called the King.

Hao Asakura takes on the battle with Yoh and defeats him. His dream of a world for Shamans only comes true as Hao becomes the Shaman King but as fate has it, the journey of Yoh and his companions is far from over. The journey takes Yoh and his companions on a long wound trip to defeat Hao and reclaim the title that was lost to him.

The Shaman King has a number of spin-offs, prequels and sequel releases. Shaman King Sequel: Flowers is considered the sequel to the original 32 volume Shaman King Manga series. The teaser trailer for Shaman King Sequel: Flowers reveals that Hana Asakura will be the centre of this story. As Yoh and Anna’s son, there are a lot of expectations that come, including an interesting life.

Hana seems to be a rather bored person itching to find something exciting. The trailer shows him being attacked by a number of people, which he happily accepts as a challenge and takes them on. The situation is a bit more strange than it appears as this battle turns out to be the beginning of determining the best Asakura there is.

After the ending of the main Shaman King reboot anime, two teasers were released, which showed Hana and other new characters seven years apart. Shaman King Sequel: Flowers is expected to focus entirely on Hana along with his new team.

A Winter to Spring 2023 release window would be ideal for the return of the series.

The manga for Shaman King Sequel: Flowers spans only 6 volumes which means that it could be adapted into a single or split cour series. Ideally, 6 volumes could easily be covered with a split cour release if the anime adaptation stays true to the manga.
