American horror TV show Chucky Season 1 Episode 1 premiered back in 2021 on Syfy and USA Network. The show picked up the story of Cult of Chucky and it was warmly received by the fans. Chucky, a serial killer doll, commits a series of homicides as the story progresses.
Don Mancini first introduced the doll in his horror film ‘Child’s Play’ which was released in 1988. Besides killing, the movie also focused on voodoo magic. The protagonist Charles Lee Ray, a famous serial killer, through voodoo magic, transfers his soul into a ‘good guy’ doll and thus he continued his killing journey whenever someone took the doll home with them.
The TV show remained true to the original story where Jake Wheeler, a teenager, gets manipulated by Chucky. After successful Season 1 with a rating of 7.3/10 on IMDb, the Chucky series was renewed for a sequel. Chucky Season 2 premiered its first episode almost a year after that, on October 5, 2022. The next episode ‘The Sinners Are Much More Fun’ is scheduled to release on October 12, 2022.
Fans cannot seem to get enough of this show so they wish to know if there will be a Chucky season 3. Till today there is no official announcement regarding the renewal of the show for another season but counting on the hype it has received it is most likely to come back with more.
Will Chucky be renewed for Season 3?
With Chucky 2 Episode 2 getting ready to broadcast on 12th October on Syfy and USA Network, Chucky fans are wondering whether Chucky Season 3 is coming up. Or whether season 3 of Chucky be canceled?
The renewal will base on the viewers’ ratings on Syfy ad USA Network for Chucky Season 2. As of now, the sampled data shows that it has established an identity of its own and is performing exceptionally well for Syfy. USA Network is not broadcasting any other scripted series making the renewal of the Chucky series even more lucrative. Based on the initial inputs coming in on viewership, one can safely conclude that Chucky stands a good chance to be renewed for a 3rd Season.
When will Chucky Season 3 Release?
Chucky is yet to be officially confirmed for Season 3. So naturally, there is no scheduled release date out. But if another season were to happen Chucky Season 3 Release Date will be around late 2023 or early 2024.
As soon as Netflix updates about Season 3 we will be able to tell you more. However, after the end of Season 1, Netflix had warned they will be back with more of Chucky’s shenanigans and so they did.
Chucky Season 2 Episode 1 is currently available to stream on Netflix, Syfy, Hulu, fubo TV, and Sling TV.
How many episodes will Chucky 3 have?
Chucky 1 had 8 episodes and Chucky 2 has announced a weekly drop of 3 episodes. One is expecting 8-9 episodes in Chucky Season 2 to last till 30th November. It is pure speculation that Chucky Season 3 will follow its previous seasons and will compose of 8-9 episodes.
Is there a Chucky Season 3 trailer?
Once Chucky gets renewed for Season 3 it is anticipated that Syfy or USA Network will broadcast a promotional trailer. Trailers mostly drop a few months before the show gets aired so we can assume Chucky Season 3 trailer will be released somewhere in 2023.
Just two weeks ago on September 23, 2022, Chucky’s official YouTube released Season 2 trailer where we can see the teenagers; Jake, Devon, and Lexy placed in a facility, and even there Chucky keeps on troubling them with his murder plans. The trailer also gives us a glimpse of Devon and Jake’s relationship. Also, Tiffany makes her appearance in the Chucky Season 2 trailer. Tiffany had previously appeared in the ‘Bride of Chucky’ film where Chucky kills Tiffany and transfers her soul into a bride doll.
What is Chucky’s Plot?
The story starts with a yard sale where a vintage good guy doll turns up. Jake, who likes building sculptors out of doll heads, picks up Chucky. Soon many unfortunate events start to take place that surround Jake and his family.
Jake did not have a good relationship with his father so he befriends Chucky and doesn’t realize when the doll starts to manipulate him to execute all those murders. After Chucky kills Jake’s father by horribly electrocuting him Jake is taken in by his cousin Junior’s family. Lexy, who’s Junior’s girlfriend also is a big part of the show.
Lexy is mean to Jake at first and later on Chucky tries to kill her in a fire explosion. Chucky also murders several people in the Hackensack and soon all the murders get linked to the Chucky doll. Jake, who’s innocent, also gets involved and becomes a suspect. Soon old enemies from Chucky’s past who had been Chucky’s victims previously make an appearance that threatens Chucky’s existence.
Season 2 starts with Jake, Devon, and Lexy being apart but in the end, they all reunite to destroy Chucky. Now Chucky is more dangerous than ever. Only the first episode of Season 2 is out yet. If Season 3 happens the plot will be about yet another killing rampage by Chucky
Where to watch the Chucky TV series?
Chucky TV show is produced by Syfy and USA Network. This American thriller is currently available to stream on Peacock, fuboTV, Hulu, YouTube Premium, and Vudu. Fubo TV has Chucky Season 1 in its catalog but with only 7 episodes out of 8.
Is Chucky Real?
While the Chucky franchise has almost made it seem real, fortunately, the serial killer-focused story is nothing but a work of fiction. To create the character of Charles Lee Ray who uses voodoo magic to store his soul in a doll and becomes unstoppable, Don Mancini used inspirations from horror stories and films that existed during his childhood and teenage years.
However the protagonist, Charles Lee Ray, is named after three criminals; Charles Manson ( the name Charles derives from here), Lee Harvey Oswald ( from here the middle name Lee appears), and James Earl Ray ( the last name Ray is inspired from here).
Don Mancini explained his idea behind ‘Child’s Play’ in a podcast. He said,
“Because of my exposure to the world of advertising and marketing through my dad, I was very aware from an early age of the cynicism inherent in that world, particularly selling products to children,” he added “Madison Avenue refers to children as ‘consumer trainees’ and I discovered that as a child I wanted to write a dark satire about how advertising affects children.”
Of course in real life dolls don’t appear with knives and the intention of murder but it is interesting how Mancini created an alternate universe in his head where dolls can become a literal thread to people. His direction is what gives life to the story and makes us wonder if Chucky is real.
