Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku Manga to Get a Spin-off

Wotakoi Manga finally came to an end on July 16th 2021. The sentimental end, however, is opening up to a new release from the series! The manga series by Fujita was originally serialized by Comic Pool while the English Version was taken up by Kodansha. Since its beginning in 2014, the manga has sold over 12 million copies including digital and physical versions. Wotakoi ended its run after 10 volumes.

The manga ended with 60 chapters and the final volume of the series will be shipped on October 14th. Volume 11 will be the concluding instalment for the main story. The series also has an anime adaptation by the same name! The 11-episode anime series was produced by A-1 Pictures of Blue Exorcist, Kaguya Sama: Love is War and The Seven Deadly Sins Fame.

Ichijinsha, the publisher of Wotakoi, released commercials to commemorate the end of the series.

About Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku

Love really seems to be hard for an Otaku. Kodansha describes the story of Wotakoi as:

“Narumi Momose has had it rough: every boyfriend she’s had dumped her once they found out she was an otaku, so she’s gone to great lengths to hide it. When a chance meeting at her new job with a childhood friend, fellow otaku, and now coworker Hirotaka Nifuji almost gets her secret outed at work, she comes up with a plan to make sure he never speaks up. But he comes up with a counter-proposal: why doesn’t she just date him instead? In love, there are no save points.”

The anime series has a rating of 8/10 on My Anime List! The series also has an OVA with 3 additional episodes released from 2019-2021. While there is not much known about the spin-off at the moment, we’re definitely glad to know this is not the end of the story! As for hopes for Season 2? That too is a blurry area.
