When is Tokyo Revengers Season 2 aka Season 1 Part 2 coming? Latest News, Split Cour, Plot, and Spoilers

After sweeping through Spring 2021 to become one of the best releases of the anime season, when is Tokyo Revengers Season 2 coming? The manga series by Ken Wakui was first serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Jump Magazine and currently has 22 published volumes. After its initial manga release in 2017, the series has also received a live-action adaptation which is currently in the works.

The series has a rating of 8.25/10 on My Anime List and 8.6/10 on IMDb. The first season of the anime adaptation is coming to an end soon. But there’s more to it than meets the eye. Tokyo Revengers has plans for its upcoming releases and we are here with all the updates!

What is Tokyo Revengers About?

Tokyo Revengers does a fantastic job of blending Sci-fi with high school delinquency. As strange as it sounds, landmark releases like Akira too were a blend of these genres. Tokyo Revengers revolves around Takemichi Hanagaki, a 26-year-old delinquent who looks like a kid. A lot of people in the anime do but that is because of a twist. Takemichi has a little gang that he can rely on.

One day he discovers that his only girlfriend ever had been killed along with her sibling. Takemichi too dies moments after learning this but is somehow warped back in time to relive his high school days. He tried to inform people and prevent Hinata’s death. Takemichi, now able to travel through time, uses his ability to change the course of the future.

The first season of the anime aired with 14 episodes, the last of which is scheduled for July 11 2021. With very positive reviews and announcements of further projects, Tokyo Revengers Season 2 is suspected to be in the works already. Volume 23 of the manga is also scheduled for release on July 16 2021.

Tokyo Revengers Season 2 Official Trailer

Tokyo Revengers Season 2 Plot

Tokyo Revengers Season 1 is expected to be a split cour release. A split cour release essentially means that the series will be released in different parts with 10-14 episodes each. Attack on Titan Final Season Part 2 and That Time I got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 2 Part 2 are good examples of a split cour release. The upcoming release is based on the Bloody Halloween Arc of the manga. A trailer for the coming release has a showdown between Valhalla and Tokyo Manji on the cards.

The first season of the anime will be stopping somewhere in Volume 8. If the anime adaptation works at its current pace, there is going to be enough source material left for an adaptation of Tokyo Revengers Season 2 and also a Tokyo Revengers Season 3.

The upcoming part 2 will be continuing with the Mobius Arc and moving into half of the Valhalla Arc. In a series of showdowns, Takemichi finds himself transported to 2017 where he discovers being a member of the Toman. In a shocking meeting with Kisaki and some of his own old friends, Takemichi is now set up to have an encounter with the Black Dragon.

Tokyo Revengers Season 1 Part 2 Release Date

Toyo Revengers Season 1 Part 2 is set for release on Halloween, October 31, 2021. Fitting the Bloody Halloween title, the anime is expected to come back with another 10-12 episodes. Since there are 22 volumes in publication with another volume coming soon, Season 2 will take a while before the viewers can watch the Black Dragon Arc which Tokyo Revengers Season 2 is likely to cover.

The release window for Tokyo Revengers Season seems to be Summer 2022 at the earliest given that Part of the first season will begin at the very end of October. Assuming the end in January 2022, a late Summer 2022 – Autumn 2022 window seems like the perfect opportunity for release. Even as the live-action film for Tokyo Revengers is set for July 11, 2021, there are rumors that the production for Season 2 got kicked off in May.

Blu-Ray/DVD official website has also announced that Season 1 will be released in 6 disc volumes. It has no more information on the total number of episodes apart from the first box set volume that will have four episodes. In other words with planned 6 disc volumes, the first season should be of 24 episodes, split into two cours.
