Winter 2023 is just days away, but the season’s line-up keeps getting better! The Original anime series Revenger is set to debut in January 2023 and we’re here for it! Original anime series have perks of their own, primarily when they are produced well. The anime naturally does not have a manga series that it is being adapted from, but it has an excellent team working on the story!
The visual novel developer Nitro Plus is working on the series. The developers have released some familiar titles including Chaos; Head and DRAMAtical Murder.

The third official preview of the original TV was revealed on the official website of Nitro Plus. The preview has revealed the official release date for the anime along with the staff working on the production! The preview showcases the awesome character designs for the anime, their voice actors as well as the spectacular music for the series!
What is Revenger About?
Raizo Kurima’s clan is hit by a series of assassinations. The grand samurai clan’s soul survivor chances upon the master assassin Yuen Usui who belongs to the organization called Revenger, who true to their name, exacts revenge on behalf of those with no power. Betrayed by those he trusted, Raizo becomes a part of the hitman organization, still sworn to find the conspiracy behind his clan’s massacre.
The Ribenjiya general store acts as a front for the organization to work in the shadows. Raizo becomes an employee there to work with the organization where he finds a group of eccentric people who seem to have all kinds of trades and yet work together. The five men form an alliance with friendship at the centre, promising revenge for those who seek it.
When Will Revenger Anime be Released?
The official preview trailer for the anime has announced that Revenger will premiere on January 5th 2023 as a part of the Winter 2023 calendar. The preview has only showcased the main characters from the series and a glimpse of the actual plot that awaits the viewers. The number of episodes for the series is also unconfirmed at the moment and is a little tricky to predict given that this is an original anime without a manga to refer to.
By the looks of it, the anime could be a single cour release with 12-14 episodes and could later be renewed for another season. These details will be released in the upcoming month along with potential news of Revenger Season 2.
The anime will also have an advance screening at the Anime Frontier Event on December 10 according to official reports!
Where Can I Watch the Revenger anime?
Revenger will have a TV Broadcast like most other anime releases. The TV broadcast schedule has been revealed! Tokyo MX and other affiliated channels will be broadcasting the series. Crunchyroll has also licensed the anime for streaming outside Asia. The anime with its current platforms is also likely to get an English Dub which will follow the anime either simultaneously or a month or so after its Japanese release.

The anime will premiere on Tokyo MX, AT-X, BS11, and other TV channels! According to the preview videos and announcements, the premiere time for Thursday, January 5th is:

- BS11: 1:30 am JST (January 6th)

Revenger Anime Characters and Staff!
The Revenger anime has already revealed its official cast for the main characters! Supporting characters and other voice actors will be revealed as the show progresses. The current ensemble for the anime includes:

- Yuichiro Umehara as Yuen Usui
- Hisako Kanemoto as Nio
- Shunsuke Takeuchi as Teppa Murakami
- Shouta Hayama as Soji
Ajio-do Animation Works is working on the show. Shochiku, Ajia and visual novel developers Nitro Plus are credited with planning. Masaya Fujimori is the director of the series, Gen Urobochi is the script supervisor and original story writer for the anime. Urobuchi and Renji Oki are credited with scriptwriting, Yuushi and Jiro Suzuki are the characters designers for the show while Yuji Hosogoe is adapting the characters for the anime. He is also the chief animation director for the series along with Emiko Endo and Yuki Nishioka.
Hotaka Okamoto is the art director, Teppei Sato is the director of photography, Naomi Nakano is the colour designer, Jun Futamata is the music composer and Akiko Fujita is the sound director.
The ending theme for the anime titled “un_mute” is performed by Maaya Sakamoto.

Q. Is Revenger related to Tokyo Revengers?
A. While the titles of both anime are similar, the two are not related. Tokyo Revengers is a time travel gang war anime where 26-year-old Hanagaki Takemichi gets powers to travel across time. After an accidental death, he tries to change the course of the future to where his first girlfriend Hinata is still alive.
Revenger on the other hand involves samurai clans and a quest for revenge. The anime showcases vigilantes belonging to a historical period with politics and murder at the helm of everything. At some level, both shows do address revenge but go on their own paths.
Tokyo Revengers Christmas Showdown is also a part of the Winter 2023 calendar but does not have a specific date at the moment. Revenger has already been announced for January 5th!

A. The official website of the anime has only announced one streaming platform that will be hosting the series in Winter 2023 as of now. Crunchyroll has officially licensed the series and will stream Revenger Episode 1 on its platform on the premiere day i.e. January 5th. Given that Crunchyroll is streaming the anime, it is also very likely that Revenger anime English Dub will also be released subsequently.
